What is Chiropractic Care?
There is nothing mysterious about chiropractic care. The word
itself is a combination of the Greek word "chiro" or
hand and "practice" or practice, thus defined as "treatment
by hand."
Ninety percent of chiropractic treatment is adjusting the spine
to balance the nervous system. Plainly put, with normally functioning
nerves, joints, and spine plus a healthy lifestyle, your body
is better able to heal itself.
At Webster Chiropractic & Rehab we
also utilize Active Release Techniques to expand our work to
all the body’s muscles. Through biomechanical analytics we
help to restore the health of your entire body and guide you
in a personalized approach to overall wellness.
What is a Chiropractor’s education?
By law, chiropractors in all 50 states are Doctors of Chiropractic.
It takes a minimum of six years of rigorous academic training
and clinical internships in the sciences and health care to
earn a doctor of chiropractic (DC) degree.
A chiropractic curriculum follows the same as medical school
for the first two years. Thereafter medical students begin their
focus on pathology (diseases), pharmacology (drugs), and surgery.
Chiropractic students focus on health, musculature, and techniques
to help the body heal itself naturally.
What is ART?
Dr. Webster specializes in Active Release Techniques (ART). This
is a manual technique designed to restore motion and return
the body to its natural state.
Once the injury has been assessed, the
provider uses hands on treatment and patient motion to "free up" the
problem areas. This soft tissue management system is so unique
that it has been granted a medical patent.
ART is successful for professional and amateur athletes, people
injured in auto accidents, or at work, and people who just work
hard and hurt.
Who can perform ART?
In order to become an ART provider, one must complete extensive
hands-on instruction and written/practical testing. An ART
provider is trained to palpate and treat more than 300 muscular
and fascial injuries and over 100 nerve entrapments.
ART has developed an advanced training program called ART Biomechanics
Certification. These providers study the body in motion and address
the sites, which prevent optimum performance.
Dr. Webster is a trained and certified ART provider.
What can I expect when visiting
Webster Chiropractic & Rehab?
First there will be a consultation and examination to determine
the nature of your condition. It may be necessary to take x-rays.
Once we have determined where the problem lies we will offer
you a timeline and outlook so we can chart progress and return
you to health.
How long are appointments?
Your first visit will take about 40 minutes. Follow up visits
will vary between 20 to 40 minutes depending on your condition
and needs.
How long before I start seeing results?
Results are typically quick. It’s not unusual for our patients
to see relief after their first visit. But the vast majority
of our patients see improvement within 4 to 6 visits. Treatment
duration and frequency may vary depending on the severity and
complexity of your injury.
What we hear most is “I’ve had this pain for a long time and
up until now no one has been able to find the cause. You found
the source and the problem went away.”
Is treatment expensive?
Chiropractic care is a low-cost, effective health care solution
for a wide range of conditions. When compared to the cost of
surgery, physical therapy, and medications, along with their
risks, side effects, and associated costs, chiropractic care
is indeed a high-value use of your healthcare dollars.
Does my insurance cover chiropractic?
The majority of all insured American workers have coverage for
chiropractic services in their health plans. Webster Chiropractic & Rehab will check your out of network benifits and help you understand what the most affordable option will be.
Do I need to be referred by a MD?
No, a patient does not need a referral before visiting Webster
Chiropractic & Rehab. Chiropractors are considered first-contact
physicians and are defined so by state and federal regulations.
