Symptoms include:
Pain in the lower back
Pain in the buttocks
Pain down the back of the thigh or even
down into the foot/heel
Burning or tingling down the leg
Increased symptoms with
sitting, touching toes, or putting on pants
If you experience any or all of these symptoms then you
could be suffering from what is commonly referred to as Sciatica,
a term used very often in the public and simply means that
symptoms are experienced somewhere along the distribution
of the sciatic nerve which runs from the low back all the
way down into the leg.
Complaints include pain in the back, buttocks, thigh, and/or leg as well as possible
burning or tingling sensations into the foot. These symptoms can be caused by
irritation of the nerve anywhere along its path. Many people believe that the
sciatic nerve is always compromised by a disc problem, but many times the irritation
of the nerve is located in the buttocks or thigh region. Scar tissue buildup
or tight muscles can impinge the sciatic nerve in these areas and cause all of
the symptoms listed above.
How can Webster Chiropractic & Rehab
help?
Active Release Technique (ART) to help minimize scar tissue,
restore normal muscle function, and reduce stress placed on
the sciatic nerve
Chiropractic adjustments to help maintain proper motion in
the low back and hip joints
Stretching and Exercises to keep the muscles surrounding the
sciatic nerve from placing too much pressure on the nerve during
sitting and movement
